Growing up at the beach, lost at sea Growing up in a box, far from free I told my parents I'd be a professional baseball player But can I tell them the dream was dead before the Cold War or Desert Storm The era of Reagan and Bush Clinton and Bush passed down from Vietnam Even before that, as the Red Sun's white flag was a-flying We dropped two mammoth bombs to put the fear of god into anyone or any nation who went against the notion that the western empire is the chosen son Oh god damn, I'm still waiting for that bomb to drop on me.

We drove Mallory's car out of the Big Apple to Barney's cabin and then western PA to see my parents. Get me to Pittsburgh Get me to Columbus Get me to Cleveland, Detroit and Lansing Hello, Chicago Hello, Milwaukee and Madison We're feeling ambitious Lets keep this moving to Iowa and then Minneapolis Good-bye Big Apple I'm not coming back until Barrie throws another show But Sam and I, we'll cross the border Onward to Jon's house in Stratford, ON Toronto and London Bonjour, Trois Riviere, Quebec City I'll see you again in the coming years Straight to BC! to visit Jesse then follow southward to California Hello, New York Taxi! Good-bye Pittsburgh I'm back to Baltimore Still building so you might come Still building so they might come

I spent those first two months drinking at the Green Castle A local well in the town we call home Broken windows falling buildings Everyone seems to be hanging on Monday. 3 PM. Curt and I get started Talking socialized medicine with Bob Kathy tells us to knock it off The bar wants to pay for theirs I guess we're communists We must be all alone because that hospital closed down Lets watch these mills pump pollution instead of our blood Lets watch UPMC pull this town's plug and build a shrine in its place honoring prior iron fists Dedicated to henchmen with names like Frick Broken windows falling buildings everyone seems to be hanging on Broken bottles busted liver she seems to be hanging on

When I grow up I'm going to be a movie-star I'll live in Hollywood I'll drive twelve cars I won't know how to read or problem-solve When I grow up I'm going to be a football god I'll be in Dallas limousine and all I won't know how to read or problem-solve A small price to pay for riches and fame I won't have time to watch the decay of their literacy rate or the trampling of all beings rights I'll support the troops but won't have time to think about the consequence of another unjust war. When I grow up, I'm going to rot away Dreaming of fortune and fame As the hum of the TV tube keeps telling me I'll make it someday when I grow up

We all have belief The point of argument lies in the body of this congregation These mass assemblies are supposed to breed hope and optimism Please explain why they're used to justify that AK in his hands the explosives on her chest Lets follow along for tradition's sake! Praise god for class warfare Praise god this new American slavery Praise god these holy roman empires Praise god for fascist leaders Praise god for silencing reason Que justification.. that AK in her hands the explosives on his chest Lets following along for tradition's sake!

Since I live in the land of the free I might as well speak my mind The national anthem makes me want to cry but not in a prideful patriotic kind of way From birth until death, may phantoms lead us in And it makes me want to cry but not in a Christian, hallelujah kind of way From birth until death The free market oxymoron Those corporations rule our lives From birth until death And it makes me want to cry but not in a god we trust kind of way From birth until death
